In fact, I just remembered that the band I was in for a while in the late 60's did that version of I don't Believe You. We were SOooo bad.JeffreyWM1https://www.blogger.com/profile/04921340950529954085noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2489078438568088729.post-53170109447903408922009-03-23T19:12:00.000-05:002009-03-23T19:12:00.000-05:00Aside from "Tell ME Momma", I'm more of a fan of t...Aside from "Tell ME Momma", I'm more of a fan of the acoustic side. Dylan's vocals are amazing. He does 2 things I really love. He s-t-r-e-t-e-c-h-e-s out words emphasizing the last letter so "face"ecomes Faaaccce. The other cool thing he does is he takes a 1 syllable word, sings it in 2 syllables, dropping thew 2nd syllable an octive.
I was fortunate 2 see one of the early shows from the 66 tour. It was in NYC, Feb. 66JeffreyWM1https://www.blogger.com/profile/04921340950529954085noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2489078438568088729.post-5859451305577370562009-03-22T10:48:00.000-05:002009-03-22T10:48:00.000-05:00I visited my sister and her family this week in DC...I visited my sister and her family this week in DC. Part of my visits with them is spent talking music (Bruce might be the boss but Mink de Ville can kick Bon Jovi's ass) and ripping dozens of their CD's I don't have and visa versa. This time I scored 10 Tom Waits albums. After giving them a Dylan @ Bonnaroo 2004 boot, my nephew gave me copy of Dylan's 1966 Royal Albert Concert.

I had really never had any interest in this CD but burned a copy and listen to it driving back to CT. The acoustic stuff was what I expected but the electric stuff blew me away. To my ears, the drums were distracting, giving the performance a sloppy feel on the surface, but listening to the rest of the band's chops, coupled with the original material, well, these guys knew what the fuck they were doing. Quite an eye opener and clearly way ahead of its time.

I'm am pleased 12 year old Brendan has such good taste in music even though he made me rip a copy of Oasis' "What's the Story, Morning Glory." Maybe it will take me 20 years to "get" that.

Peter MooreAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2489078438568088729.post-55599285359154138622009-03-21T17:11:00.000-05:002009-03-21T17:11:00.000-05:00guitar player and quick change artist?guitar player and quick change artist?WILLIAM T.
